Penang Island is part of the state of Penang, on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. With an area of 295 km2 (114 sq mi), Penang Island is the fourth-largest island wholly in Malaysia, after Banggi Island, Bruit Island and Langkawi Island. As of 2019, the island has a total population of 1,774,600 with 42.8% Malay, 39.1% Chinese and 9.4% Indian.
